show synopsis

Young mermaid Ariel longs to leave her father's underwater kingdom and live in the human world above. When she strikes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, to trade her tail for legs, she quickly realizes the bargain is not what it seems. Soon, Ariel must enlist the help of friends Flounder the fish, Scuttle the seagull and Sebastian the crab to win the heart of Prince Eric and discover where she truly belongs.

Featuring music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater, this new adaptation includes the iconic songs "Part of Your World," "Poor Unfortunate Souls," and "Under the Sea," along with music written exclusively for the stage. With its vibrant cast of characters, dynamic settings, and beloved musical score, The Little Mermaid KIDS is an enchanting theatrical journey of friendship, acceptance, and finding your true voice.

ARIEL​​

• Vocal Range: Bb3-D5

• Description: A mermaid who longs to be human, is curious and adventurous. While she doesn't always feel understood, she deeply loves her friends and family. She is a dreamer and sees the world in unique ways, whether collecting everyday human stuff or dancing with a flock of seagulls.

URSULA

• Vocal Range: F3-D5

• Description: The evil Sea Witch who tries to overthrow King Triton, is cunning and devious. She will stop at nothing to get what she wants.

SCUTTLE, SKIPPER, SCOOTER

• Vocal Range: A3-B4

• Description: Scuttle, Scooter, and Skipper, a charismatic trio of seagulls, are the show's helpful narrators.

SEBASTIAN

• Vocal Range: A3–B4

• Description: A high-strung crab, serves as an advisor to King Triton and watches over Ariel. He is a stickler for the rules and a dramatic worrier, but he can be the life of the party when it comes to celebrating the world underwater. 

FLOUNDER​

• Vocal Range: C4-D5

• Description: Ariel's best friend, is a sweet and sincere fish who is loyal to the end. Flounder is nervous about the human world but shares Ariel's fascination and curiosity about life on land. ​

PRINCE ERIC​

• Vocal Range: G3-B4

• Description: Prince Eric is an adventurous prince who feels most at home sailing the open seas. Kind and courageous, he connects with Ariel instantly over their shared desire to explore the world.

KING TRITION​

• Vocal Range: C4-C5

• Description: King Triton, father to Ariel and her six sisters, is the powerful ruler of the sea. This primarily speaking role needs to command the stage as a self-assured leader but also show the tenderness of a parent.

FLOTSAM AND JETSAM​

• Vocal Range: C4-C5

• Description: pair of electric eels, are Ursula's slippery spies. These two are sinister and sneaky, so look for performers who can be underhanded and devious while still being heard onstage.

MERSISTERS (AQUATA, ANDRINA, ARISTA, ATINA, ADELLA, ALLANA)

• Vocal Range: C4-C5

• Description: Ariel's older sisters who are full of personality and sass. These spunky sisters are passionate about performing. Though they do not always understand Ariel, they love their youngest sister deeply.

• Description: Prince Eric's buttoned-up guardian, is rigid in personality and constantly reminding the prince of his responsibility to the throne. ​​​​
